We greet you at London Airport and begin the tour with an introduction to London and its sights. In the evening we'll enjoy English style Fish ‘n Chips at an old London eatery.
Feeling refreshed from jetlag after a good night's sleep, we visit the Imperial War Museum, then have an opportunity to sample some ethnic lunch spots that make today’s London famous. Next, we have a tour of the Cabinet Rooms (Churchill’s underground shelter, where he met his staff during the 1940 London bombings). Before we board an overnight ferry to France, we will get a first glimpse of preparation for D-Day by the Allies at the museum in Portsmouth.
After a visit to the beautiful french town of Arromanches and its Landing Museum, we will tour the world famous D-Day Beaches with familiar names like Omaha Beach and Juno Beach. Stories and anecdotes shared by historical experts will paint the reality of what happened on these seemingly peaceful fields. We will enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Finally, we will pay a visit the Normandy American Military cemetery.
We spend the morning at the Paratrooper Museum in Sainte-Mere-Eglise. After a drive to Paris, we finish the day with a night boat tour on the Seine river. A visit to Paris is incomplete without sampling french cheeses, baguette, and one of many fine quintessential Parisian desserts.
After exploring the highlights of Paris and allowing the group some free time to explore, we will enjoy a group lunch. We then continue our journey towards the small Belgian town of Bastogne, where the group will have a free evening to relax or explore.
We start the day with a walking tour of Bastogne, followed by a visit to the Bastogne War Museum. In the afternoon we tour the battlefields and their trenches, as well as the famous sites of the Battle of the Bulge. We will enjoy a group dinner and another night in Bastogne.
Today, we head to the medieval city of Nuremberg- the spiritual capital of the Nazi movement. After a stroll through the old town center and a short briefing of the sites in the area, everyone will have the opportunity to explore in small groups. We will meet up for a group dinner to discuss the events of the day.
The focus today are the Nuremberg trials, where the Nazis were prosecuted after the war. After learning about how the Nazis came to power and visiting the actual courtroom of most trials, we will have a group lunch. In the afternoon we will travel to Munich. Before retiring for the evening, we will stretch our legs during a bike tour of the city.
We begin with the Third Reich city tour of Munich, where we visit some of the birthplaces of the Nazi Party. The afternoon will be spent at the concentration camp Dachau where we will witness some of the atrocities committed by the Nazis. This experience can be very emotional, and we recommend a group dinner to encourage dialogue and support among the group.
Our tour will take us to Austria. We will visit the Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s mountain refuge, and the Obersalzberg Museum- the last stronghold of the Nazi Party. We will finish the day and the tour with a farewell dinner of Schnitzel or Klösse at Munich’s famous Hofbräuhaus.
We will enjoy breakfast in the hotel before we will say good bye at Munich Airport. Optional: Some participants may want to continue to travel on their own - we are happy to provide assistance in planning.
