Tour Duration: 15 Days
The group will be picked up at Auckland Airport. Our comfortable coach will take us out of the city and to the famous Waitomo Caves for a spectacular glow worm tour. The evening will include an introduction to Maori culture and a traditional hangi dinner.
Today we will head to Rotorua - a geothermal hotspot. After a tour of the springs, we will embrace adventure with a rafting trip down the famous Kaituna river and the worlds highest commercially rafted waterfall. In the evening we will relax in some natural hot springs, a hidden gem in the middle of nature.
After a leisurely morning with some free time for everyone to explore Rotorua, we will hop on the bus and head to Taupo, a town located beautifully at a huge lake.
Along the way, we stop to check out the famous and beautiful Huka Falls as well as take a break for a mud bath!
The Tongariro Crossing is not a trek for the faint of heart, but worth every minute! We will start in a lush green rainforest and as we gradually climb higher and higher we will cross a volcanic high plateau with its stunningly colored lakes. This mountain was the filmset for "Mordor" of the "Lord of the Rings".
As we recover from the long walk, we will drive to Wellington for a lunch stop before hopping on the ferry to the South Island and then completing our drive through the stunning northern part of the South Island to Nelson for a relaxing evening on the coast.
Abel Tasman is a paradise for water activities. We will spend the day exploring the national park along the coast in kayaks.
We will drive along the more remote West Coast of the South Island as we head to Arthur’s Pass. A stop in Greymouth will give everyone a chance to sample fresh and delicious seafood and get a good glimpse at "kiwi culture".
Jump into your wetsuit and harness for an unforgettable day of canyoning in Arthur’s Pass. We will walk, jump, slide, and rappel through one of the more remote areas of the country and get a very unique perspective at its hidden canyons.
During our drive from Arthur’s Pass to Lake Tekapo, we will stop at two small Canterbury farms for a look into New Zealand’s forestry and farming industries. You’ll get to try your hand at tree chopping and cow milking in the process. Please don't try to steal any of the newborn lambs.
After a nice day of rest, we will be ready for a trekking adventure around Mount Cook. We will retrace early footprints of Sir Edmund Hillary and stay in one of the many mountaineering huts scattered around the islands. You will get an unforgettable view at the stars tonight if the clouds play along.
After our walk back down the mountain, we will load up the bus and drive to Wanaka. The afternoon includes a scenic bike ride through wine country and an opportunity to sample some of the local vineyard products. Lake Wanaka will be inviting you to relax along it shoreline or to go for a refreshing swim.
No trip to New Zealand is complete without a visit to one of the famous Sounds - and our choice is Milford Sound. You can choose between a scenic boat ride or a kayak through the peaceful water.
The remote hills in the Milford Sound area are a perfect place for a hike. We offer several hiking options to accompany context and background of the flora and fauna of the islands (native and not).
An early departure from Milford Sound will give everyone more of the day to choose one of Queenstown's countless adventure opportunities! We will meet up in the evening to share our experiences over dinner in one of the quintessential local restaurants.
Our last day will offer a spectacular view of the mountains from underneath a paraglider. After a late group lunch, we will head to the Queenstown airport for the short return flight to Auckland.
